1. Create Your Profile to Get Matched

Tell us about your coaching background, experience level, time zone, language, and coaching interest then we connect you with compatible coaching partners.

2. Schedule Sessions with Your Assigned Partner

Meet virtually using your preferred video platform. Most members exchange 90-min coaching sessions where each coach has an opportunity to coach and be coached.

3. Keep Practicing to Fulfill Your ICF Coaching Hours Requirement

Continue practicing with your current partner and receive new matches as often as you’d like. The more you practice, the stronger your coaching becomes, and the more coaching practice hours you earn.

Which Coaching Hours Count Toward Your ICF Credential?

ICF considers coaching exchanged for coaching (reciprocal coaching) as a form of barter, which qualifies as paid coaching experience.

For the ACC, ICF requires 100 coaching hours, including at least 75 paid hours. For the PCC, 500 hours are required, including at least 450 paid hours. Because CPE facilitates reciprocal coach-to-coach exchanges, qualifying sessions can help you build the paid coaching experience you need while getting valuable practice yourself.

Plus, CPE provides an official coaching log to document your coach practice hours.

Coaching Practice Exchange FAQ’s:

Do these hours count toward my ICF credential?

Yes! When you practice coaching with a peer and they practice with you, it is considered reciprocal coaching. You can count the time you spend coaching them as paid hours.

Are the hours paid or pro bono?

The hours you provide coaching to your peer are considered paid as long as you receive coaching from them in return. For example, if you coach them for one hour today and they coach you for one hour tomorrow, that would equal one hour of paid coaching for each of you.

Who can join?

Coach Practice Exchange is open to coaches in training, newly certified coaches, and experienced coaches. Whether you coach life, executive, leadership, wellness, career, or business clients, you’ll find peers committed to reciprocal coaching and improving their coaching skills together.

How am I matched?

You are matched based on your profile and your preferences for a match, such as coaching experience, gender, coaching specialty, and availability. Once you sign up you will complete your profile and request a match in your Member Dashboard. Matches are provided within 48 hours and you can request new matches once per week. After you’ve received your match, you can message one another inside your member dashboard before you accept the match. Once both of you accept your match you will be able to see each other’s profile and connect to schedule your sessions.
